SCL NEW YORK Seminar: Beyond the Box w/Wayne Hankin

The Society of Composers and Lyricists Seminar: Beyond the BoxThe SCL in NEW YORK Presents:
BEYOND THE BOX

WAYNE HANKIN | LURA JOHNSON

Today's composers live in a virtual world of computers, controllers, sequencers, software, and plugins. But there are other essential tools many composers overlook.  This multimedia presentation raises issues and offers special solutions regarding:

Live vs virtual recording
Composer tools to separate you from the pack
Forming your musician network
Alternative approaches to recording
How your character impresses an artistic team

Wayne Hankin will perform a live demonstration on how to get the most out of instruments familiar and unfamiliar, including Musettes Grosserbock, raushpfeiffes, bagpipes, hornpipes, bone flute and other pre-Western instruments.  He will also demonstrate some different approaches to the recording process, including excerpts from films and recordings.  With special guest artist Lura Johnson on piano.
