The Society of Composers & Lyricists grieves the loss of our colleague, friend, legendery composer and SCL Advisory Board Member Jerry Goldsmith, who died last night at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Carol, children (including Jerry’s son, composer & SCL Member Joel Goldsmith), grandchildren and a great-grandchild, along with many friends and colleagues who will deeply miss him. Funeral / memorial arrangements are yet to be announced.

From SCL President Dan Foliart: We have lost a dear colleague and a friend. Jerry truly personified the finest that we as composers could aspire to. He has touched so many lives with his immeasurable contribution to the film community and his music will forever be a testimonial to what we as composers and lyricists should strive for. We share our deep feelings of loss and grief with Jerry’s family, and will be with them in spirit as they endure the difficult days ahead.
