The SCL Announces 3rd Annual SCL Awards

It is with tremendous pride that we announce the 3rd Annual SCL Awards, to be presented during an evening of entertainment and special guests on February 1, 2022.

Ceremony details and invitations will be announced in December 2022, and will conform to LA County Department of Public Health event guidelines.

The SCL Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in music for visual media. The SCL is mindful that as a result of the pandemic, a number of audiovisual productions released this year are being delivered via streaming. Certain categories have been adapted accordingly.

Seven competitive categories will be presented:

Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film

Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film

Outstanding Original Score
for a Television Production

Outstanding Original Song for a Dramatic
or Documentary Visual Media Production

Outstanding Original Song for a Comedy
or Musical Visual Media Production

Outstanding Original Score for Interactive Media

The David Raskin Award for Emerging Talent

Entries are judged by member composers and songwriters who understand not only the craft, but also the pressure on media music creators to deliver their finest work.

These are the only awards of their kind, where throughout the voting process the selection of nominees and winners are chosen solely by music creators.

DAVID RAKSIN AWARD FOR EMERGING TALENT

Open to all voting and Associate members who have never previously been nominated for an OSCAR®, EMMY®, GRAMMY®, TONY®, BAFTA®, GOLDEN GLOBE® or SCL Award®. Both score and song entries are eligible in this category as created for the accompanying visual images, or in the case of songs, as the first music cue in the end credit sequence of a production. On-camera performances of an original work are eligible.

SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION AWARD

Determined by the SCL Board of Directors, this lifetime achievement award will be presented to a composer and a filmmaker who have had an enduring and distinguished creative partnership, representing a significant body of work.

Submissions open on Friday, October 8, 2021
and close on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
