Two-time Grammy Award winners Hildur Guðnadóttir & Sam Slater (Joker, Chernobyl, and Battlefield 2042) discuss their disruptive score for Electronic Arts’ upcoming Battlefield 2042, the future of music for video games, and revolutionizing how we think about interactive scoring. Moderated by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory (Journey, The Pathless).

Hildur Guðnadóttir is a 2-time Grammy, Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Emmy-winning Icelandic artist, who has been manifesting herself at the forefront of experimental pop and contemporary. Her work for Film, Television, and Video Games includes Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalena, Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 2042 (the newest entry in the massively successful Battlefield franchise), the Warner Brothers Film Joker (Grammy, Academy Award, SCL Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA), and the HBO series Chernobyl (Grammy, Emmy, SCL Award, BAFTA, WSA Television Composer of the Year).

Sam Slater is a two-time Grammy Award-winning composer, sound designer, and music producer who is known for his roles as both Score Producer and Musical Sound Designer for Joker and Chernobyl. As a composer, in 2020 he scored Guerilla, a feature film about freedom fighters in Myanmar directed by Anyrin Bowyn, and The River Between Us, a documentary feature on uncontacted Peruvian tribes. He also composed the score for I Am Not A Monster, a BBC / PBS Podcast telling the story of an American mother who brought her son to live in war-torn Syria. The podcast won several awards and was noted for its complex and weighty sound world. In 2021, he co-composed his first video game score with Hildur Gudnadóttir, Battlefield 2042, the newest entry in Electronic Arts’ massively successful Battlefield franchise.
