Scott W. McKinlay is a Director- Producer-Writer hailing originally from Detroit.

Scott’s first two ultra-low budget indie feature films (GAG and CREEP VAN) sold worldwide and continue to sell across the globe, with Creep Van world-premiering on CHILLER Network (NBC Universal).

Scott formed his production company, Detroit Riot Productions, in 2006.

Both of Scott’s films had their film scores released on CD through Perseverance Records.

After 25 years in Los Angeles, in 2022, Scott and his family transplanted to Nashville where Scott was hired to write and direct a national, primetime network TV commercial and social media campaign for RAM Trucks (starring Jackson Dean) and was then immediately hired to write a RAM trucks commercial and social campaign starring Lainey Wilson. Most recently, Scott was added to the faculty at the accredited Nashville Film Institute (rated a “Top 25 Film School”) where he is currently teaching The Business of Film. Scott also had a winning script as a Script Finalist at the 2023 Nashville Film Festival Script Competition (feature film, co-writer). Scott is a marketing expert and spent 20 years running the Community Relations Department at the Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund in Los Angeles before abandoning California for middle Tennessee. He has never looked back.
