SCL SongArts invites all SCL members to join our upcoming collaborative event, “Musical Storytelling”. As our members are spread over five continents, this unlocks vast reach and diversity through musical collaboration. We will be pairing songwriters according to their application responses. The teams will be tasked with creating and producing an original song, in any genre, which moves the story forward as it would in musical theater. No musical theater experience is required to participate.
This round we will be writing songs based upon The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, with each team writing for a chapter that will be assigned once the pairings are announced. Songwriting teams have total creative freedom and are encouraged to experiment with different genres, contexts, time periods, cultures, characters, and points of view. We will provide all participants with a digital copy of the book so every team works from the same source material.
We will announce the experts who will join us for our listening session(s) after the song submission deadline.
