Ron Gorow
SCL Member RON GOROW passed away at home on February 28, 2008 from a sudden heart attack. He is survived by his beloved wife, actress/dialogue coach Judy Kerr, who was with him at the time of his death. He is also survived by their children, grandchildren and other family, many friends and colleagues. A celebration of his life was on March 4th at Vitello’s in Studio City, CA. Ron Gorow was in the music business in Hollywood for over 40 years, working in film, TV, records, live acts and publishing. He was a member of the Society of Composers & Lyricists, Professional Musicians Local 47, Recording Musicians Association, International Association of Jazz Educators and ASCAP. He taught composition and orchestration privately and at the Dick Grove School, and had worked for JoAnn Kane Music Service. He consolidated his experience as a composer, orchestrator, arranger, copyist, music engraver, score proofreader, musicologist and teacher to develop the techniques presented in his book HEARING AND WRITING MUSIC: PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR TODAY’S MUSICIAN which received rave reviews by many in our industry.
