This panel featured Jenn Miller, Todd Brabec, David Gluck, and William Goldstein. It was moderated by Garry Schyman, chair of the SCL’s Music Rights Committee.
Jenn Miller is the COO and Co-Founder of Audiosocket, a music licensing and technology company. Miller has long been an entrepreneur in the music industry who continues to pioneer technologies that allow artists new ways to monetize and protect their work online.
Todd Brabec, former ASCAP Executive Vice President, is an Entertainment Law Attorney and consultant, a Deems Taylor Award winning co-author of “Music Money and Success: the Insiders Guide to Making Money in the Music Business”(7th edition/ Schirmer Books), an Adjunct Professor at USC teaching music licensing, publishing and film, television and video game score and song contracts and a Governing Committee member and former Music Chair of the American Bar Association Entertainment and Sports Forum.
David Gluck is a music professional and musician based in Portland, Oregon. He oversees label, aggregator, publisher, and artist accounts for Rumblefish, a pioneer in micro-licensing and YouTube monetization for music. Prior to his work with Rumblefish, he helped launch CD Baby’s music publishing platform, CD Baby Pro. When he’s not working with music and technology, he can be found volunteering for PDX Pop Now!, a non-profit dedicated to promoting and supporting Portland music, or recording and performing with bands like The Sorry Devils.
William Goldstein has been a recording artist for both Motown records and CBS Masterworks. He has over 40 albums currently available. He has scored over 50 Movie and Television projects, including Fame and The Miracle Worker. He has written on the arts for The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times. He has been a pioneer in the use of computers and electronic instruments in music. His most distinguishing characteristic as a composer/ pianist is his gift of “Instant Composition”, which he is exploring in many diverse ways and sharing with audiences through Master Classes, recitals and Albums.
Garry Schyman is a BAFTA award winning composer for film, television and games. He is chair of the SCL (Society Of Composers and Lyricists) Music Rights Committee and an Adjunct Professor in the USC Thornton School of Music’s SMPTV program.
