THE SCL ANNOUNCES MENTEE SELECTIONS FOR THE
LA MENTOR PROGRAM 2022-2023

The SCL Mentor Program serves as an introduction to the screen music industry for selected SCL Associate members. The SCL LA Mentor Committee has made its final selections from a large number of applicants, and welcomes the following Associate Members into the LA Mentor Program for 2022-2023. The committee would also like to thank the many applicants who took the time to submit and encourages them to do so again in the future, should they remain eligible.
The program runs from October 2022 through March 2023, with a break for the holidays.
The mentors are thoroughly looking forward to sharing their experience and expertise with the SCL LA Mentee Class of 2022-2023.

 Alberto Anaya is an LA-based, classically trained, Spanish composer and post-production audio engineer who has experience in visual media, video games, and teaching. His love for jazz and contemporary music has led him to accrue experience as a composer and performer. His music for visuals is wholly tailored to the picture, and his ability to write in any given style/genre makes Alberto a well-rounded composer. He graduated from the prestigious NYU Screen Scoring Graduate Program as a Fulbright Scholar in New York (2018-2020), and his work can be found in Emmy-nominated projects and on major media platforms such as HBO and Mediaset España. He is a TV Academy member (Los Angeles, 2022), has had his work premiered in Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid, 2021), and won the I Oskar Rieding International Competition for Composers (Slovenia, 2018). |

 Lauren Conklin is a composer from Nashville, TN. She began her career as a touring strings player and has performed at venues from the Royal Albert Concert Hall to the Grand Ole Opry. In 2020 she shifted her full focus to composing and film scoring after landing her first feature-length film As Real As You Make It. She has also scored the feature film Abigail and the winning short from Nashville’s 48-Hour Film Project, An Immersive Guide to Pruning. Lauren’s sound combines classical orchestration with world folk influences as she draws upon the musical cultures she visited and studied while touring the world. In addition to scoring films, Lauren has arranged and recorded strings for artists like Lukas Graham, Kylie Morgan, Skylar Astin, and New Hope Club. Currently, Lauren lives in Nashville and works as a composer and producer. |

 Monika Mia is a multi-talented composer, songwriter, and producer who recently moved to Los Angeles to study at USC Screen Scoring Program. Monika combines a classical music background with a passion for the electronic music scene, beat-making, and experimental songwriters. She has written for award-winning short films, games, and advertisements while continuing to work on her own original releases. |

 Patrick O’Malley is a composer of orchestral, chamber,
and media music. He is inspired by mysterious dichotomies in nature and art, and in writing music that often embraces
abstract worlds and emotions. O’Malley’s work has been recognized or performed by organizations including the Albany, Minnesota, Ft. Wayne, and Milwaukee Symphonies, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s National Composer Intensive, The ASCAP Morton Gould Award, and The Aaron Copland House Residency. He was named “Composer of the Year” by the Sioux City Symphony in 2018 and made his Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Youth Symphony in 2021. O’Malley’s film music has been heard at festivals around the country, and he also serves as the arranger and conductor for the video game concert series Journey LIVE with composer Austin Wintory. O’Malley completed his master’s and doctoral degrees in music at the University of Southern California where he studied with Andrew Norman and Sean Friar. |

 Jaimee Jimin Park is a film composer who started playing piano at age 4 and has a strong foundation in classical music. She received a master’s degree at USC’s Screen scoring and Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program. She has recently put out an album called Nebulous and has contributed to such projects as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett, and Fantastic Beasts III through her work with Pete Anthony. |

 Dónal Rafferty is an Irish-born composer who had a
musical upbringing in Dublin through singing with The Palestrina Choir and studying piano, clarinet, and music theory. He went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in
music composition at the National University of Ireland Maynooth followed by a master’s degree at King’s College London. He is a Fellow of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive (LAFCI) workshop 2021-22, where he trained with Angel Velez, Conrad Pope, William Ross, and Leonard Slatkin. He is an Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO) award recipient for his chamber quintet Aquastrata (2010) and a prize-winner of the Indie Film Music Contest 2020. He has released music under the artist pseudonym EX1MUS, and recently scored the indie short films I AM and The Merger, which are currently on the film festival circuit. |

 Tiff Randol is a composer/lyricist/vocalist and performing artist working in film, television, FullDome, and 360 media. Her music has been featured in numerous films, commercials, and television shows, including Work In Progress, Masters of Sex, Ray Donovan, The Fosters, Arrow, and Flash, among others. Most notable is her original end title song “To Feel Alive” from the feature film Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Randol has received recognition as an up-and-coming songwriter by The Songwriters Hall of Fame and has earned numerous awards at notable festivals like HollyShorts and Japan Media Arts for her experimental 360 musical film Starman. Currently, she is developing an original FullDome/VR film that features her music, performance, and direction. Randol is also a founder of Mamas In Music, an organization committed to supporting, creating opportunities, and amplifying the voices of working mothers in the music industry. |

 Beryl Rosenblum is an LA-based composer for the screen and stage, as well as an award-winning classical pianist. Originally from Montclair, New Jersey, Beryl attended Skidmore College as a Filene Music Scholar for classical piano. She later went on to study film scoring in Paris, France at the Ecole Normale de Musique – Alfred Cortot
with Béatrice Thiriet. In 2022, she received her master’s degree in Film Scoring at Columbia College, Chicago. She has recorded her work with orchestras and chamber ensembles in notable recording studios such as Fox Newman Scoring Stage, La Seine Musicale, FAMES Project, and Chicago Recording Company. |

 Jared Smith is an up-and-coming LA-based Composer and Musician from North Carolina. He holds a Masters in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia Spain. After graduating from Berklee, Jared Moved to LA where he worked as an assistant on shows such as Bob’s Burgers & Central Park. Prior to Berklee, he also attended Georgia State University for his Bachelors in Jazz Studies, where he played bass in a plethora of ensembles such as big bands, latin bands, opera pits, chamber groups, symphonies, contemporary ensembles, and many more. He has also studied at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe’s summer program in Varna, Bulgaria. Currently, he is writing for a wide array of projects, and his first feature set will be released next year. |

 Jake Warren is a British Hollywood Music In Media™
Award-winning songwriter, producer, and composer. In
2022 he moved to LA and signed a publishing deal with peermusic. His songs have been placed in-show, on
promos, and in trailers for shows on Netflix, HBO, CBS,
Fox, Hulu & The CW. Jake’s unique sound makes him a welcome creative force in the ever-changing sonic landscape of the television and motion picture industry. |
