SCL Joins in Comments Submitted to Department of Justice on Generative AI Regulation

The Society of Composers & Lyricists, Songwriters Guild of America, and Music Creators North America have submitted comments to the US Department of Justice and Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter regarding Generative Artificial Intelligence and the US Department of Justice Views on Regulation as Discussed at the Stanford Workshop on Promoting Competition in AI on May 30, 2024.

The comments stress the importance of hearing and valuing the voices of independent music creators, commends the steps the DOJ has taken thus far, reissues the belief of antitrust protections, and implicitly states that creators are not “anti-technology” as they are commonly branded.
