Remarks from Ashley Irwins’s introduction of Mark Snow at the 2013 NY Holiday Party:

Mark grew up in the borough of Brooklyn. He attended the High School of Music and Art (graduating 1964) where he became good friends with Michael Kamen. They both went on to Juilliard School of Music where they would co-­?found of the New York Rock & Roll Ensemble which signed with Atlantic Records and proceeded to tour and record for 5 years.

In 1974 he relocated to Los Angeles to write film & TV music where his first series was The Rookies. Since then he’s done hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of episodic TV: Starsky & Hutch,  Vega$,  Dynasty,  TJ Hooker,  The Love Boat,  Hart to Hart,  Cagney & Lacey,  Falcon Crest,  Dark Justice,  The X-­?Files,  Millennium,  One Tree Hill,  Smallville,  Ghost Whisperer,  Blue Bloods …as well as many feature films, a slew of telemovies and even video games. Mark has been nominated for 19 Emmy Awards and won 34 ASCAP Awards. He was nominated for a César Award for his work on the film Coeurs directed by French director, Alain Resnais. He also worked on Resnais’s film Les Herbes Folles. Among his most famous compositions is the theme music for sci-­?fi television series The X-­Files which reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart.
