Based on true events, in this military thriller, a small unit of U.S. soldiers, alone at the remote Combat Outpost Keating, located deep in the valley of three mountains in Afghanistan, battles to defend against an overwhelming force of Taliban fighters in a coordinated attack. The Battle of Kamdesh, as it was known, was the bloodiest American engagement of the Afghan War in 2009, and Bravo Troop 3-61 CAV became one of the most decorated units of the 19-year conflict. The Outpost is based on The New York Times best-selling non-fiction book, The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor from CNN’s Jake Tapper. Directed by Rod Lurie, and starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom. R | 122min

Larry Groupé has an impressive musical résumé in film and television as well as the concert stage; his achievements have received both critical praise and popular acclaim. Groupé has four Emmy awards to his credit and has also composed the music for a variety of features that have shown at the Sundance, Berlin, and Toronto International Festivals. Groupé’s latest score for long time collaborator, director Rod Lurie, is the true story war picture The Outpost starring Orlando Bloom, Scott Eastwood, and Caleb Landry Jones.  Concurrently Groupé is also composing a brand new commission for an eighty piece orchestra and sixty voice choir, to be premiered next summer in Oregon.

Most notably, he wrote the score for The Contender, a highly regarded political drama written and directed by Rod Lurie, which received multiple Academy Award® nominations. This political drama edge led them to Commander in Chief, which became the number one most successful new TV series when launched by ABC.  Groupé also enjoyed special recognition when he teamed with the Classic Rock legends, YES, co-composing ten original songs on the new CD release, Magnification, as well as writing overtures, arrangements, and conducting the orchestra on their Symphonic Tour of the World. Groupé also completed the critically acclaimed score for Sony’s Straw Dogs, directed by Rod Lurie. Just prior to this was Nothing but the Truth and Resurrecting the Champ. All collaborations with writer-director Rod Lurie.

Rod Lurie is the director of The Outpost released July 2020, starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom. He co-wrote the original song “Everybody Cries” for the film, with composer Larry Groupé and Rita Wilson, who also performs it. Previously Lurie wrote and directed the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-nominated political thriller The Contender, starring Joan Allen, Jeff Bridges, Gary Oldman, and Christian Slater. He also wrote and directed the films Straw Dogs, a remake of the 1971 classic, Nothing But the Truth, and Resurrecting the Champ. Additionally, he created and executive-produced Line of Fire, a one-hour FBI drama for ABC, and directed the feature film The Last Castle.  In television, Lurie created the series Commander In Chief, which was nominated for the Best Drama Series Golden Globe. Lurie made his film writing and directing debut in 1998 with the dramatic short Four Second Delay, which won the Best Short Film award at the Atlanta Film Festival and the Crested Butte Reel Fest. The film also won the Prix du Jury at the Festival of American Cinema in Deauville, France. Lurie followed in 2000 with his first feature film, Deterrence, a drama about America coming to the brink of nuclear war. In addition, Lurie authored the book Once Upon A Time in Hollywood in 1995.

Rita Wilson, an accomplished singer/songwriter, is also celebrated for her work as an actress, film producer, and philanthropist. In March of 2019, she received a Star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame in honor of her rich film career. With her first love being music, Rita has four studio albums under her belt including her most recent Halfway to Home. Over the last several years, she has toured the world over performing on such iconic stages as the Grand Ole Opry, The Sydney Opera House, and Walt Disney Concert Hall as well as coveted slots at music festivals including Stagecoach and CMA Fest among others.  In another prolific artistic period, her latest slew of singles includes, “Pray For Peace,” “I Wanna Kiss Bob Dylan,” “What I Would Say,” co-written by Rita, Jesse Frasure, and Shane McAnally, “Where’s My Country Song?” a timely tribute to women everywhere, especially those on the front lines, and the moving ballad “Everybody Cries,” from the film The Outpost, co-written by Rita, director Rod Lurie, and Larry Groupé.  She also made notable guest appearances on Jimmie Allen’s, When This Is Over alongside the Oak Ridge Boys & Tauren Wells, and Alex Blue’s cover of the John Prine classic, “Angel From Montgomery.” Most recently, Rita can be heard on “PINK” the new single featuring Dolly Parton, Monica, Jordin Sparks, Sara Evans, and Rita; the special collaboration benefits Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization.
