SCL Awards 2021: Official Announcement

Following the acclaimed success of our inaugural ceremony in January 2020, it is with tremendous pride that we announce the 2nd Annual SCL Awards, to be presented during an evening of entertainment and special guests on March 2, 2021.

Ceremony details and invitations will be announced in January 2021, and will conform to LA County Department of Public Health event guidelines.

Due to ongoing Covid-19 event restrictions, the SCL will not be hosting its annual Lifetime Achievement Award or Ambassador Awards this year. However, plans are in motion for a combined virtual holiday event for Los Angeles and New York members.

The SCL Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in music for visual media. Once again, five competitive categories will be presented:

Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film

Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film

Outstanding Original Score for a
Television Production

Outstanding Original Song for Visual Media

Outstanding Original Score for Interactive Media

Entries are judged by member composers and songwriters who understand not only the craft, but also the pressure on media music creators to deliver their finest work.

These are the only awards of their kind, where throughout the voting process the selection of nominees and winners are chosen solely by music creators.
We respect and support other award shows that recognize music in visual media, but our awards reward the unique talents of our own community.

Spirit of Collaboration Award

Judged by the SCL Board of Directors, this lifetime achievement award will be presented to a composer and a filmmaker who have had an enduring and distinguished creative partnership, representing a significant body of work.

Submissions open on Wednesday, November 4, 2020
