SCL grieves loss of RICK RHODES

The Society of Composers & Lyricists grieves the loss of our dear friend and colleague, RICK RHODES, who passed away this morning (Wednesday, November 2, 2005) in Oak Park, CA, after suffering complications from a brain tumor. He had been struggling with cancer for a couple of years, having had surgery in September 2003 to remove the brain tumor. He is survived by his wife and their two children. The Rick Rhodes Memorial will be on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 10:00am at Cal Lutheran University, in the Samuelson Chapel, 60 Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks, California.

Rick was a multiple-Emmy-winning composer, music director, recording artist, songwriter, production library music producer, founding member of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival in Thousand Oaks, and drama teacher at Oak Park High School. Rick composed music for daytime dramas including DAYS OF OUR LIVES, AS THE WORLD TURNS, ANOTHER WORLD, and GUIDING LIGHT including co-writing the new theme with SCL Member Danny Pelfrey. He also wrote songs and musicals, music for video games and production libraries. http://www.magicisland.com/rr/
