State of the Art Conference 1996

This video comes from the 1996 “State of the Art Conference” with the Hollywood Reporter. It should be noted that today’s Billboard and Hollywood conferences were modeled after these first SCL “State of the Art” events.

These clips are taken from the 2nd Conference in 1996. We see the opening presentation, a few interviews by Jon Burlingame with the always humorous Randy Newman and the late Basil Poledouris. Then we segue to the luncheon where Jerry Goldsmith is our key note speaker.

What surfaces in these videos is the long and comprehensive history of the SCL and the tenacity of many of the issues that still are with us today.
