RON SADOFF is a composer and the founding Director of Screen Scoring at New York University. A Juilliard graduate and tenured professor, he developed study abroad programs for composition in NYU/Paris, NYU/Prague, and currently in tandem with NYU/LA.  Dr. Sadoff has served on the Steering Committee of the SCL-NY since 2009, and sits as a voting member of the Advisory Board for the World Soundtrack Awards in Gent. 

Sadoff composed the score for John Canemaker's Academy Award-winning Film, The Moon and The Son: An Imagined Conversation.  He scored Emmy-winning Director Marcia Rock’s Daughters of the Troubles: Belfast Stories, for PBS. His main theme for SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio, co-composed with Ira Newborn, is in its twelfth year of broadcast. As Creative Director, Sadoff produced the largest live webcast of its day, Michael Jackson and Friends, from Munich, in 1999.

Sadoff’s scholarly works are published by Oxford, Cambridge, and the recent book, The Routledge Companion to Screen Music and Sound (2017). With Gillian B. Anderson, he co-founded and co-edits a premiere journal in the field: Music and the Moving Image (Univ Illinois Press).  A frequent panelist and lecturer, his discussion of composer Oliver Wallace is featured on Disney's 50th anniversary DVD edition of Lady and the Tramp.

Sadoff frequently serves as a forensic musicologist for music copyright cases.
