Members of the Film & TV Music community, made up of composers, songwriters, music editors, music supervisors, studio executives, and more, came together for Soundtrack of our Lives: A Celebration for the Film & TV Music Community, benefiting MusiCares® COVID-19 Relief Fund. Over 75 film and television composers and songwriters, “From A to Z, Abels to Zimmer”, appeared in this program, to honor the talented people whose scores and songs transport, inspire, uplift, and entertain us by creating the “soundtrack of our lives.” The fun, delightful and heartfelt hour-long special features leading and iconic singers, composers, songwriters, actors, celebrity guests and more, while celebrating glorious Film & TV Music moments with heart and humor. 

The Outstanding (pre-recorded) Variety Special received several accolades, including a Hollywood Music in Media Award and five Telly Awards. Created by Peter Rotter and Richard Kraft, and written and directed by Kraft, its executive producers include Leona Laurie, Ray Costa, Thomas Mikusz, Chandler Poling, and Josh Turchetta. NR | 60min

Marc Shaiman is a composer/lyricist/arranger/performer working in films, television, musical theater, and recordings. He has won several honors, including a Tony, an Emmy, a Grammy, and seven Oscar nominations.  For Mary Poppins Returns he was nominated for two Oscars, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy. His other Oscar nominations have been for Sleepless In Seattle, Patch Adams, The First Wives Club, The American President, and South Park-Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Other film credits include Beaches, When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers, The Addams Family, Sister Act, A Few Good Men, Hocus Pocus, The Bucket List, and Hairspray. He and Mariah Carey were nominated for a Golden Globe for their title song for the animated film “The Star”. For Broadway, he and co-lyricist Scott Wittman have written Hairspray (Tony & Grammy Awards), Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Catch Me If You Can (Tony nom), Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and they are currently writing a new musical version of Some Like It Hot, coming to Broadway in 2022. Television credits include Saturday Night Live (Emmy and Golden Globe nom), Smash (Emmy & Golden Globe nom), The Oscars with Billy Crystal (Emmy Award), Bette Midler (final guest with Johnny Carson), and countless appearances with Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Lane, Jennifer Hudson, Jack Black & Will Ferrell, among others.

He has produced/arranged recordings and performances for Bette Midler, Harry Connick Jr., Peter Allen, Eric Clapton, Diane Keaton, Patti LuPone, Steve Martin, Barbra Streisand, Robin Williams, and many more. His online opus Prop 8 – The Musical was a Webbie Award winner.

Richard Kraft has directed and produced several shows at the Hollywood Bowl including Disney’s The Little Mermaid in Concert, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, La La Land, and Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.  Kraft has also directed Alan Menken’s one-man show A Whole New World of Alan Menken and directed and produced Evil Dead Live in Concert: A Halloween Experience. Kraft also executive produced ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Little Mermaid Live! Most recently Kraft directed, wrote, and produced the online special Soundtrack of Our Lives: A Celebration for the Film & TV Music Community benefitting the MusiCares Covid-19 relief fund and featuring composers, songwriters, and celebrity guests. With partner Laura Engel, Richard Kraft is the co-owner of Kraft-Engel Management specializing in representing film, theatre, television, and video game composers, songwriters, and music supervisors. Kraft-Engel clients have been nominated for 77 Academy Awards and have won 17 Oscars.  Kraft and Engel have produced Danny Elfman’s Music From The Films of Tim Burton at Royal Albert Hall, PBS’ Live From Lincoln Center – Danny Elfman’s Music From the Films of Tim Burton, and Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl, and they executive produced the Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box.

Prior to starting his own company in 1991, Richard was an agent at ICM and started his career working with several of his musical heroes such as Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, and Henry Mancini. Kraft once ran Varese Sarabande Records where he executive produced over 150 soundtrack albums. His award-winning feature-length documentary, Finding Kraftland played at more than 75 film festivals around the world. He is also an über-Disney fan whose That’s From Disneyland! exhibit and auction garnered great attention and money for charity.
