Brian Siewert’s prolific music & television career began at the age of seven. Siewert says his life-changing musical moments were hearing Star Warsfor the first time, Wendy (Walter) Carlos’ Switched On Bachand Vangelis’ running theme to Chariots of Fire. Siewert exclaims, “I got bit by both the synthesizer and symphonic bugs very young…and I never looked back!” Siewert studied at the Berklee College of Music and Belmont University, pursuing a Music Business major, while at night working in the campus recording studio. A multi-year internship in Music City USA’s pro recording studios planted the seeds for his musical career.
Siewert has performed in famed venues such as Radio City Music Hall, The Grand Ole Opry and NBC’s “The Tonight Show.” He toured the nation playing arena and amphitheater shows as keyboardist for country superstar Wynnona Judd, after first working with her on a string arrangement. Siewert has served as session keyboardist/string arranger/conductor for artists including Rascal Flatts, Alabama, Barbara Mandrell, Trace Adkins, Ronnie Milsap, Wade Hayes, N-Sync, Christian artist Steve Green and pianist Jim Brickman. But, Siewert’s love for composing music to picture turned his career in a direction he never dreamed possible.
Siewert served as principal composer/songwriter/music producer for the longest-running drama in television history, CBS’s Guiding Light, and As the World Turns, Turns, NBC’s Another World, and Aaron Spelling’s Sunset Beach. He earned 24 Emmy® Award nominations and took home 4 Emmy wins. Drawing the attention of Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, he served as a composer for their popular talk shows. A recipient of multiple BMI and ASCAP Film and TV Music awards for “Most Performed Theme and Underscore,” it is estimated that Siewert has scored more than 5,000 hours of network TV, syndicated to millions of global viewers.
In 2007, he established the “Brian D. Siewert Artist In Motion” Scholarship at his alma mater Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, MI, where he was the 2008 recipient of their Distinguished Alumni Award. The annual scholarship grants higher learning tuition support and ongoing mentorship to a graduating senior in any arts field.
