Paul Williams

Composer, lyricist, singer, actor and Paul Williams can do it all and epitomizes what the SCL is all about.

He has the gift of being able to write songs that touch your very soul:

We’ve Only Just Begun

Rainy Days & Mondays

You and Me Against the World

An Old Fashioned Love Song

I Won’t Last a Day Without You

Rainbow Connection

and

“Evergreen”, for which he won an Academy Award and a Grammy for Song of the Year

…while his film scores are always an extension of his personality:

Bugsy Malone

The Muppet Movie

Phantom of the Paradise (Oscar nom.)

…and I’ve barely scratched the surface.

He’s a six-time Grammy winner, a three–time Emmy winner and managed to accrue 5 Oscar nominations and one win, 4 Golden Globe nominations and one win, 2 Emmy nominations, 2 BAFTA nominations, 6 Grammy nominations and won 3 times, most recently this year for his work Daft Punk’s Album of the Year, ”Random Access Memories”.

He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001 and in 2009 he was elected president of ASCAP where he has since become one of the greatest advocates for music creators everywhere. His work in Washington this year alone would have driven a lesser man to drink…or in Paul’s case back to drink.
