Are you a composer for visual media in the early stages of your career?
Are you trying to secure your first feature film, video game, or lead composer credit?
Are you working mostly as an “additional music by” composer?
Are you working mostly as a composer’s assistant?
Have you been working as a media music professional for less than five years?
Join the SCL Early Career Committee for our fifth SCL Early Career Lunch Hour on Zoom. These Lunch Hours happen every two months and always start with a Lightning Talk on topics relevant to our Early Career community, followed by a brief Q&A, and then an informal hang in breakout rooms with members of the committee and your fellow Early Career composers.
The Lightning Talk for October 6 is
Should You Work For Free? Some Considerations
featuring Composer Silvio Buchmeier.
Silvio Buchmeier is a Swiss-born saxophonist-turned film composer now based in Los Angeles. He is most well-known for the score to the immersive experience Viva Frida Kahlo. After a successful six-month run in Zurich, it is currently showing in Brussels with more global venues to follow. This year, Silvio scored the music for the highly anticipated The Rotting of Casey Culpepper, screened at Telluride Film Festival and BIFFF in Brussels. The feature version of the film was recently selected for the acclaimed Sundance Producers Lab. Earlier in the year, I Remember It Rained premiered at IFFR in Rotterdam. Silvio wrote the solemn and ecstatic score to the short film which stars Uly Schlesinger of HBO Generations. Furthermore, his music has been heard in numerous films at major festivals, such as Artdocfest Riga, Palm Springs, BIFAN in South Korea, and NIFFF in Switzerland, amongst others. In addition, he has worked as a collaborator on films such as Thirteen Lives (Ron Howard) and Old by M. Night Shyamalan.
