4th Annual SCL Awards Held, Winners Announced

After a record number of submissions and votes, the 4th Annual SCL Awards were held on Wednesday, February 15th in Los Angeles, California. In addition to the winners of competitive categories, the ceremony also honored the filmmaker-composer team of Damien Chazelle and Justin Hurwitz with the Spirit of Collaboration Award and bestowed the inaugural SCL Jury Award, which went to Michael Abels and Rhiannon Giddens for their opera Omar and conductor Amy Andersson with a team of female composers and lyricists for Women Warriors: The Voices of Change.

Hosted by Darren Criss, the evening also featured presentations by Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-28), SCL President Ashley Irwin, songwriting legend Mike Stoller, composer and SCL board member Russell Brower, and winners from last year’s awards ceremony: Daniel Hart, Stephanie Economou, Taura Stinson, and Germaine Franco.
