Our first Los Angeles SCL Songwriter Sing Out! is open to 12 SCL songwriters (members only) to present one song each.

We will be joined by Music Supervisor John Houlihan and Music Licensing Director Beth Wernick.


The Society of Composers and Lyricists Seminar: A Songwriter Sing Out! - Beth Wernick Beth Wernick  began her career in the music industry as a publicist in New York City, working with iconic recording artists such as Tom Petty & the Heart Breakers, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Ambrosia, Judy Collins, Tanya Tucker, KC and the Sunshine Band, War, and many others. After moving to Los Angeles, Beth worked at Rhino Records and later on co-founded Imaginary Friends Music Partners with Stacy Robin & Donna Rawlins. IFMP is a one-stop, exclusive song catalog, which licenses the music of unsigned, Indy artists to TV shows, films and commercials. In 15+ years of pitching songs, IFMP has had a wealth of placements including regular uses on CBS Daytime Drama – The Young & The Restless, ABC’s Nashville and American Crime, Hallmark movies, NBC’s Nightshift, Netflix Inc’s Trailer for Club de Cuervos, plus numerous reality series and films.  Beth gives full credit to the truly gifted artists, bands and songwriters whose music she is honored to represent.

The Society of Composers and Lyricists Seminar: A Songwriter Sing Out! - John Houlihan John Houlihan  is a Music Supervisor who has worked in film, television, advertising and politics.  He has helped shape the music of more than 75 feature films including Mr. Holland’s Opus, the three Austin Powers films, Training Day, and Looper.  Recent projects include the animated feature The Book Of Life, the documentary Supermensch, and the boxing drama Southpaw which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker and features two original songs by Eminem. John supervised the upcoming documentary film He Named Me Malal by Academy Award winning film director Davis Guggenheim that will be released October 2, 2015 with a score by Thomas Newman and the original song “Story To Tell” by Alicia Keys, produced by Rick Rubin. John is currently working on the films Peanuts and Deadpool and  serves as President of the Guild of Music Supervisors.
