The video game industry has evolved into a massive and influential presence in media entertainment. Game music has likewise grown exponentially with devoted followings, millions of sales and streams, mainstream soundtrack releases, and even fully-orchestrated concerts worldwide. If one is not already entrenched in the interactive gaming sphere, breaking the barrier into hearing, experiencing, and composing video games can be challenging. So, how can non-gamers break through those entry barriers to fully experience and appreciate these modern music masterpieces and the composers who create them? Join us for this conversation about how to break through the blockades to the game scoring world so that non-gamers can join in on the fun, level up, listen to, experience, and enjoy these dynamic soundtracks.

Stephanie Economou is a composer and violinist based in Los Angeles, CA. She has written the music for the Netflix TV series Jupiter’s Legacy, the Lionsgate/Starz series Step Up: High Water, the second season of Manhunt: Deadly Games, and two episodes of the Disney+ documentary series Marvel’s 616, directed by Gillian Jacobs and Alison Brie. Most recently, she scored the Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: The Siege of Paris, as well as the Netflix series, The Chair, created by Amanda Peet and starring Sandra Oh.

Stephanie is a long-time collaborator of Golden Globe-nominated composer, Harry Gregson-Williams, and has composed additional music on scores such as Mulan, The Meg, The Equalizer 2, Penguins, The Martian, The Zookeeper’s Wife, and Live By Night. She has also aided in crafting the music for Hulu’s mini-series Catch-22, as well as the ABC/Warner Bros. TV series Whiskey Cavalier. Stephanie is also the recent winner of the SCL’s own David Raksin Award for Emerging Talent.

Bobby Tahouri is known for his bold and dramatic scores ranging across a variety of genres and multimedia. His video game soundtracks include the superheroic score to 2020’s Marvel’s Avengers and the critically-acclaimed Rise of the Tomb Raider. He has also contributed additional music for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Shrek the Third. In the film and television space, Tahouri scored Nickelodeon’s highly rated animated series Shimmer and Shine, and composed the main title theme for the Biography Channel/LMN show The Haunting Of, which aired for seven seasons. He also scored the Netflix original comedy feature Girlfriend’s Day, produced by and starring Bob Odenkirk, as well as award-winning documentaries Best Worst Movie and The American Scream. In 2019, he co-produced a cover of “The Chain” with Evanescence for the Gears of War 5 video game trailer. The song and music video has garnered over 5.7 Million views on YouTube.

Tahouri lives in his native city of Los Angeles where he began playing piano at the age of seven, and hasn’t stopped since.

Tori Letzler is a Los Angeles-based composer, vocalist, and electronic producer using her diverse talents and eclectic experiences to create compelling music for multimedia. Tori composed the music for Netflix’s Russian spy sci-fi thriller In from the Cold, crafting a synth-heavy score inspired by the 90’s industrial movement combined with soft and weirdly affected vocals. She also scored the animated short Fetch on Disney+ through Disney Animation’s Short Circuit program. In 2018, she produced The Future is Female concert in Los Angeles, co-sponsored by BMI & Live Nation, highlighting the musical work of twelve female composers including herself. As a sound designer, Tori has created custom sample packs & presets using synthesizers and her trademark cinematic vocals for the likes of Yamaha, Noise Engineering, and Splice. She is also credited as an additional synth programmer on Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel and an additional synth designer for CW’s Batwoman television series. As a vocalist, Tori has sung on over 40 scores from heavyweight composers such Hans Zimmer, Brian Tyler, Lorne Balfe, Rupert Gregson-Williams, and more on major productions such as Wonder Woman, Batman vs. Superman, The Tomorrow War, and American Horror Story; as well as video game soundtracks such as Warframe: The New War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Zombie Chronicles.

Growing up in NYC, she joined The Metropolitan Opera’s Children’s Choir at age 9. Following that, she toured internationally as a vocalist for Cirque Du Soleil before attending Berklee College of Music. Tori is continuously releasing electronic music under her alias TINYKVT.

Esin Aydingoz is a media composer from Istanbul and an alumna of Berklee College of Music. She has composed for a wide array of projects including animations, silent films, documentaries, TV series, video games, and musicals. Some career highlights are her recent feature Simchas and Sorrows, Amazon Prime’s The Prevalence, a branded short documentary for US Bank, and her shorts The Monster of the Desert, and Noor, which brought her several “Best Score” awards. She has written additional music for Bear McCreary on Apple TV’s SEE and Anne-Kathrin Dern on Hallmark’s One Summer and Presence of Love. She is the assistant music director for Disney’s a cappella sensation “DCappella” and has arranged and produced for a variety of other Disney albums and concerts. Esin is a voting member for The Recording Academy and the secretary for The Alliance for Women Film Composers.
