Bruce Broughton was honored as an SCL Ambassador at the annual SCL Los Angeles Holiday Dinner on December 5th, 2017 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Former SCL President Bruce Broughton is best known for film scores such as Silverado, Tombstone, The Rescuers Down Under, The Presidio, Miracle on 34th Street, Homeward Bound, and Harry and the Hendersons, as well as his television themes to The Orville, JAG, Dinosaurs, and Tiny Toon Adventures, music for TV mini-series and movies (The Blue and Gray, Warm Springs, O Pioneers!), and countless episodes of TV series such as Dallas, Quincy, and Hawaii Five-O. He has been nominated for an Oscar®, a Grammy®, and 23 Emmys®, having won the latter award ten times. He has composed music for many of the Disney theme park attractions throughout the world, and wrote the first orchestral score for a game, Heart of Darkness.

Broughton’s concert music includes numerous works for orchestra, symphonic winds and chamber groups, commissioned and performed by ensembles such as the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. A Board member of ASCAP, he has served as chair of the Music Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and as a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Board. He has been a professor of music composition and orchestration at both USC and UCLA.
