In Finch, a man, a robot, and a dog form an unlikely family in a powerful and moving adventure of one man’s quest to ensure that his beloved canine companion will be cared for after he’s gone. Tom Hanks stars as Finch, a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the world a wasteland. But Finch, who has been living in an underground bunker for a decade, has built a world of his own that he shares with his dog, Goodyear. He creates a robot, played by Caleb Landry Jones, to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can. As the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his creation, who names himself Jeff, the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive. Their road trip is paved with both challenges and humor, as it’s as difficult for Finch to goad Jeff and Goodyear to get along as it is for him to manage the dangers of the new world. PG-13 | 115mins

Gustavo Santaolalla is a visionary producer, prolific singer/songwriter, and a two-time Oscar-winning film and television composer. He continues to experiment and innovate with the same passion he exhibited in the ‘90s when his production work single-handedly reinvented the Latin rock genre. Santaolalla was in his teens when he became a rock star in his native Argentina as co-founder of progressive-folk supergroup Arco Iris. By the late ‘90s, Santaolalla had become the driving force behind the second wave of Latin rock reinvention. In the process, he won 17 Latin Grammy and two Grammy awards.

Santaolalla began to expand his work and dive into working on films when one of his albums tracks, “Iguazú,” was used to maximum dramatic effect in a pivotal scene of the Michael Mann film The Insider. Soon after, he began collaborating with high-profile filmmakers like Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel), Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries, On The Road), and Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) In 2006, Santaolalla’s music for Brokeback Mountain won the Academy Award for Original Music Score. He then repeated the feat the following year, winning a second Oscar for Babel. In addition to his Oscar wins, Santaolalla was awarded two BAFTA awards, and a Golden Globe for the Brokeback Mountain song “A Love That Will Never Grow Old,” with lyrics by Elton John collaborator Bernie Taupin. He also wrote the BAFTA-nominated music for both installments of the post-apocalyptic themed video game The Last Of Us, winning a 2014 SXSW Gaming Award for Excellence in Musical Score. He continues composing for film and television, including the HBO adaptation of The Last Of Us, The Book of Life, Maya and the Three, and Finch. As a songwriter, he has collaborated with an array of stars – from Eric Clapton and Paul Williams to Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker and Kali Uchis – and also performed a show for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Besides touring with Bajofondo, he plays both with specially assembled supergroup Santa Banda and also accompanying symphony orchestras across the globe.
