Zoom Webinar Q&A

Directed by Rita Coburn and narrated by Viola Davis, this biography documentary chronicles the long, complex life and legacy of iconic African-American writer, scholar, and civil rights activist W.E.B. Du Bois. The film tracks his journey across nearly a century of American history—beginning with his birth in Massachusetts just five years after the Emancipation Proclamation, detailing his achievement as the first Black American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard, covering his role co-founding the NAACP, and concluding with his death in Ghana in 1963 on the eve of the March on Washington. Through archival footage, expert interviews, and powerful readings of his work performed by Common, Courtney B. Vance and Jeffrey Wright, the documentary explores his relentless intellectual fight against systemic racism and his evolving global advocacy. NR | 112mins
