You don’t need to be a great singer to get a sync placement. But you do need authenticity. In this seminar, we will break down the difference between vocals that are good, and vocals that are good for film/TV.

We’ll discuss what makes a vocal sound dated (which is often a reason a song gets passed on) and what makes a vocal sound contemporary – or timeless. We’ll dive into tangible vocal techniques and recording techniques that convey style, character, and artistry. We’ll listen to short examples of songs that have gotten synced and analyze why these songs work, particularly from a vocal perspective, but we’ll also consider the lyrics, melody, and top line structures. Lastly, we’ll delve into some tips and hacks to improve the chances of getting your vocal song synced.

She serves on the SongArts Committee with the Society of Composers & Lyricists, is a voting member of the Recording Academy, the Director of Administration for the LA Chapter of the AIMP (Association of Independent Music Publishers), a member of the Alliance for Women Film Composers, SONA, and on the judging panel of the Intercontinental Music Awards. She also coaches singers and recording artists online at youronlinesingingcoach.com When not working on music Juliet can be found traveling, doing yoga, enjoying gourmet vegetarian food, and doting on her two dogs.

Chris Wirsig is an award-winning composer, songwriter, and producer. His music can be heard in the documentary series Halloween Obsessed, the vampire feature The Things We Cannot Change, several short movies, the comedy feature 39 And A Half, as well as in games like the acclaimed Top Ten iPad game Alien Tribe 2, and numerous TV shows on ABC, E!, MTV, History, Oxygen, Fox Sports, and many others.
