The SCL mourns the passing of DON WALKER on Tuesday, March 7th, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. Wife/composer Shirley Walker said their two sons, Colin and Ian, were able to be with Don in the last few days. Don Walker was a champion of ergonomics and a designer of many innovative and original solutions for project studios. His clients included a long list of accomplished film & television composers and musicians. Don was also an avid acoustician and incorporated much of his acoustic knowledge into his studio designs. In recent years, he was an award-winning winemaker and maintained his own vineyard at Shirley & Don’s home near Santa Barbara, CA.

Friends of the Walker family are welcome to join them on Saturday, March 18th at 10:30 am. for a service at the Loper Chapel in downtown Ballard, 2465 Baseline Avenue, Solvang, CA 93463. 805 688-6684.

Shirley Walker said that Don gave generously to the following organizations: Special Olympics, Southern Poverty Law Center, Doctors Without Borders, National Resources Defense Council, American Civil Liberties Union, Habitat for Humanity, Wilderness Society, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Midnight Mission, Preservation of Los Olivos, and Gay & Lesbian Center. The Walkers will be honored if you choose to make a donation to your favorite charity in Don’s memory.

From SCL Member Michael McCuistion: Don Walker was very gregarious, always positive and smiling even in the face of his health issues, and a constant source of support, warmth and good vibes for his many friends and cherished family.
