Kyle J Baker has years of experience writing music for film, chamber ensembles, and school groups. Classical in heritage, but vernacular in vocabulary, his works have been premiered by The Nashville Philharmonic, Sonus Choir, the Nashville Composers Collective, and performed at OZ Arts, The Kindling Arts festival, Rudy’s Jazz Room, and the Nashville Film Festival. The Nashville Scene’s classical critic has called him “thoughtful, daring, and lyrically gifted.” As an impresario, he has launched a number of projects and events, including Nashville’s Soundcrawl Festival, Creator’s Workday, and Avila Soul String Quintet. Born in Scotland and raised in St. Louis, Baker holds an M.Mus from Belmont University and makes his home in Nashville, TN with his wife Joy and family.
