Carlos Rafael Rivera Wins First Outstanding Original Title Sequence for a Television Production Award for Lessons in Chemistry

Carlos Rafael Rivera’s main title theme for the the Apple TV+ series Lessons in Chemistry won the first-ever award for Outstanding Original Title Sequence for a Television Production at the 5th SCL Awards on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, voted on by members of the Society of Composers & Lyricists. The award was presented by Monica Mancini, the daughter of Henry Mancini, composer of many iconic television themes.

During the acceptance speech, Rivera gave his thanks to the SCL and its members, as well as shining a literal light on his team of assistants, who were all in attendance at the ceremony.

This is Carlos Rafael Rivera’s second SCL Award win and third nomination. He was previously nominated for The Queen’s Gambit** (2nd SCL Awards) and had also been nominated in the category of Outstanding Original Score for a Television Production for Lessons in Chemistry (5th SCL Awards).
