Marché de Film Launches First Film Music Summit

The Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival presented a keynote discussion with prominent SCL members Alexandre Desplat and John Powell which was hosted by Jon Burlingame, followed by an in-studio concert by SCL Ambassador Mark Isham.

The Marche du film commissioned SCL publicist Ray Costa to assist in the launch of an inaugural film music summit entitled, “Spot the Composer”, presented by Variety and SACEM. As part of the online festival this year, the event included speed meetings with directors and film music professionals.

The keynote discussion with Multi-Oscar winning composer, former Cannes juror Alexandre Desplat and Oscar nominated composer John Powell, both esteemed SCL members, and was hosted by film music journalist and historian, Jon Burlingame.

The first of daily in-studio concerts called “Meet and listen” featured SCL Ambassador Mark Isham.

The Marché du Film (lit. Film Market) is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world.Established in 1959, it is held annually in conjunction with the Festival de Cannes.
