An Evening With Film Composers And Directors

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20th, 2013

A unique joint event presented by The Society Of Composers & Lyricists and The California Copyright Conference, featuring a discussion of the film scoring process both from the creative and business point of view, including the interaction between directors and composers.

PANELISTS:

Mark Isham: Trumpeter, synthesist and Oscar nominated composer who works in a variety of genres, including jazz, electronic and film.  Scored the TV series Once Upon A Time and Crash. Primetime Emmy Winner for Outstanding Main Title Theme for EZ Streets.  Memorable scores for over 100 films including Crash, Bobby, The Black Dahlia, Eight Below, The Cooler, A River Runs Through It, Blade, Nell, Men of Honor, and The Secret Life of Bees.

Aaron Zigman: Composer, producer, arranger, songwriter, and musician for several films, including The Jane Austen Book Club, The Notebook, John Q., Sex And The City 2 and the Madea Series. Daytime Emmy Winner for Outstanding Original Song for Crown Heights.

Brian Helgeland: Brian Thomas Helgeland is a screenwriter, film producer and director. He recently, wrote and directed 42 which opens next month and is scored by Mark Isham.  He won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for L.A. Confidential. Other screenwriting credits include, Mystic River, SALT, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

Robin Swicord: Director of The Jane Austen Book Club and The Red Coat and screenwriter for Memoirs Of A Geisha, Little Women, Practical Magic, The Perez Family and Shag.

MODERATOR:
