– Fun Half-Hour of Vocal Warm-Up Exercises with vocalizing, breathing, rhythmic, the brain and sound health body maps. No singing experience necessary.
WORKING WITH THE HUMAN ELEMENT
– When the vocalist is the last thing beyond your budget. Stories from the studio trenches.
– Styles, Terms, Techniques: Evoking Sound from Vocalists all around the globe
– Tunings; tweaking the emotional elements.
– Resonance & Ranges: differences in vocal soundings in the various resonance chambers can demonstrate a wide palette of vocal colors.
– The Quiet Breath: affected vs. natural sound.
– Singing in Tune: Help! Which half-step are you singing to me?

DARLENE KOLDENHOVEN
Darlene Koldenhoven is a Grammy® Award winning vocalist with a 5 octave range singing in all styles of music from classical to pop in over twenty-five different languages. She is widely known for her role as the tambourine-waving choir nun, production vocal coach, vocal contractor & music director in both Sister Act films with Whoopi Goldberg and as featured soloist in the Yanni, Live at the Acropolis PBS Special & DVD seen by over 1.6 billion people world wide. Her Grammy and three nominations are in the category Best Jazz Vocal Performance by Duo or Group as lead soprano in Clare Fischer’s 2+2. Darlene has four critically acclaimed albums she recorded in her TimeArt Studio. The last two, Infinite Voice and Heavenly Peace, went #1 on the radio charts for classical pop and were voted Best Vocal Album and Best Holiday Album for 2007 by Broadcasters worldwide. In addition to singing on all her albums, Darlene produced, composed, arranged, programmed, and played keyboards. Her Free to Serve CD won two Telley Awards and was from a commissioned, multi-media, touring gospel event with mass choirs in seven major cities of the US and Canada for which Darlene co-directed, was the featured artist, composed and arranged all the music, conducted all the choirs, including working with musicians and singers in the war-torn jungles of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Darlene was honored by the Los Angeles Chapter of The Recording Academy with an MVP Award for Best Studio Singer, having sung on thousands of recording sessions, and contracted both adults and kids. She has performed as soloist with orchestras around the world such as the Chicago Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic as well as artists such as will.i.am, Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, David Byrne, Kenny Loggins, David Foster, Jeremy Lubbock to name just a few.

In addition to her busy session & concert schedule, Darlene is also a sought after private voice teacher and vocal coach with many award winning students of all ages and notables such as the late Kenny Rankin, Anna Pacquin, John Lithgow, Allison Janney and many more. Darlene was a music educator in Illinois District 59 before moving to Los Angeles and later serving on the adjunct voice faculties of UCLA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State LA, Citrus College, Japanese Kenshu, and toured with hundreds of her seminars and workshops nationwide. Darlene has recently authored and published a comprehensive new book with 7 instructional CDs on voice, ear-training and music theory, distributed by Alfred Music worldwide and endorsed by Juilliard to American Idol titled Tune Your Voice: Singing and Your Mind’s Musical Ear.
