The 2007 Oscar Reception honored Ennio Morricone with an SCL Lifetime Membership. Also, the Motion Picture Academy awarded him an Honorary Oscar after being nominated five times without taking home the gold. The event was again held at the gracious Cacavas residence.

The camera swings through the crowd of notable composers, agents and industry professionals with a few commentaries such as Siedah Garrett (lyrics,  Love You I Do) who was nominated for DreamGirls.

The nominees for best score were: Babel, Gustavo Santaolalla (winner); The Good German, Thomas Newman; Pan’s Labyrinth, Javier Navarrete; Notes on a Scandal, Philip Glass; and The Queen, Alexandre Desplat.

The nominees for best song were: I Need To Wake Up from An Inconvenient Truth,  Melissa Etheridge (winner); Our Town from Cars, Randy Newman; Listen from Dreamgirls, Henry Krieger (music), Scott Cutler (music), Anne Preven (lyrics); Love You I Do from Dreamgirls, Henry Krieger (music), Siedah Garrett (lyrics); Patience from Dreamgirls, Henry Krieger (music), Willie Reale (lyrics).
