Oscar Reception 2011

This year’s 2011 Oscar Reception, along with our honorees, recognized Ronni Chasen’s passing. The Event was held again at the gracious Cacvas residence. All the nominees were in attendance except Best Song winner, Randy Newman. MC Charles Bernstein noted that Randy wryly said he opted for a fee of $750 dollars for a gig back east rather than be gloated over at a glamorous Hollywood Oscar reception.

The nominees for best score were: The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (winner); How to Train Your Dragon, John Powell,; Inception, Hans Zimmer; The King’s Speech, Alexandre Desplat; and 127 Hours, A.R. Rahman.

The nominees for best song were: We Belong Together from Toy Story 3, music and lyric by Randy Newman (winner); Coming Home from Country Strong, music and lyric by Tom Douglas, Troy Verges and Hillary Lindsey; I See the Light from Tangled, music by Alan Menken, lyric by Glenn Slater; and If I Rise from 127 Hours, music by A.R. Rahman, lyric by Dido and Rollo Armstrong.
