Please be mindful of the SCL’s Code of Conduct.

Media composers often face the challenge of maintaining their distinctive musical voice while responding to creative briefs and working with temp scores. How can composers honor a project’s direction while bringing their own musical perspective to the score?

Join SCL Steering Committee members Chris Hajian and Kat Vokes as they discuss strategies for navigating these demands, interpreting a brief, and developing a score that serves the story while reflecting the composer’s individual voice.

There will also be an opportunity to compose to a scene with a temp score or create original music based on a creative brief and storyline. Participants will receive a critique from the panelists, offering practical insights into the choices behind each submission.

If you’d like to participate in the scoring exercise and critique, please register for the event and sign up below by 11:59 pm ET on Monday, November 2nd to receive the materials. Event registration is required for the exercise.
